Bread

Today I made this bread following this recipe. It's really good and easy to make!

And below are two pictures of the pretty pink roses I found in my room when I got back! Mum put them there! :)

Oggi ho fatto questo pane seguendo questa ricetta. E' molto buono e facile da fare!

E qui sotto ci sono due foto delle belle roselline rosa che ho trovato nella mia stanza al mio ritorno. Le ha messe lì la mia mamma! :)

Porcelain Painting

I love Porcelain Painting and have been doing quite a bit of it lately! My teacher and I have also been experimenting various things with porcelain and diachroic glass - (I'll be posting more about this)

But first comes this..

You start off with white porcelain. Then you use porcelain paints to paint with. They are powdery paints that you mix with different types of oils depending on what you have to do with the paint you are using.

Porcelain painting is somewhat similar to watercolours in the sense that you want to start by using light colours first, then you fire your piece of porcelain and once it's cold you use darker colours on top of the ones you have already fired in, so to create depth and light in your painting.

Ultimamente ho dipinto molto sulla porcellana. La mia insegnante ed io abbiamo sperimentato anche varie cose con il diachroic glass (vetro colorato, screziato e lavorato - posterò altro al riguardo)

Ma prima..

Si incomincia da pezzi di porcellana bianca. Si usano colori per la porcellana che generalmente sono polveri che si mescolano a diversi tipi di olii. Dipingere sulla porcellana è un pò come dipingere con gli acquerelli nel senso che si incomincia utilizzando colori chiari, poi si cuoce il pezzo di porcellana in un apposito forno, quando è raffreddato si applica la tonalità più scura del colore sul colore precedentemente applicato. Questo processo può essere ripetuto all'infinito.

The best example is a typical porcelain painted rose which needs two firings.

L'esempio migliore è la tipica rosa che si trova su vari pezzi di porcellana che richiede due cotture.

"Something out of place" - "Qualcosa fuori posto" E mentre cucinavo, con il tramonto che entrava dalla finestra del soggiorno, il vapore delle pentole sembrava fuoco!

And as I was cooking, with the sunset light coming in from the window, the steam from the pans looked like fire!
